Hi friends! Thanks for tuning in and joining me on my latest run. I’m excited to share with you all the twists (hopefully not the ankle variety) and turns that just come naturally whenever I head out on the race course.
Over the years I’ve discovered that the more I run, the less I actually know about running. I thought I knew it all after my first big race which was the 2009 San Francisco Marathon. I consider that THE RACE that started it all – the one that blew the door wide open for God to speak to me in a very tangible way about what it means to “run with/to/for God.”
I started this blog in October 2014 after semi-retiring from one of my proudest race finishes: Teaching. Then training for a new race: Business Ownership. As well as that somewhat unpopular race: Empty Nest and Mid-Life. Turns out one of my favorite Bible verses is all about how to effectively run on all types of terrain – especially the daily ones which you never have to leave your house or even put on running shoes.
“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NASB
This blog is the trifecta of three life passions: God, running, and writing. It is my great hope and prayer that each chapter encourages and even inspires you to run the race God has marked out for you.
Hi Irene, this is the first opportunity I’ve had to read your blog and I’m just loving it! I wish we had had a chance to be at VCS at the same time , so that we could have gotten to know each other better in person. Your Facebook posts and blog make me smile, laugh, relate to you, inspire me, and make me feel like somehow we’re kindred spirits (in running the race together, though definitely not, unfortunately, running the physical race, lol!) Just wanted to say hi and keep running and writing!
Thanks for your posts and joy in sharing Jesus!
